The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR Has Been Delayed To March

Switchback VR Delayed

Supermassive Games has delayed The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR.

The game, a spin-off from The Dark Pictures Anthology, was originally set to release alongside the PlayStation VR2 headset on February 22nd, 2023, but it’s been delayed out of the headset’s launch window to March 16th, 2023.

The studio announced the delay in a statement shared on Twitter, in which Supermassive Games described Switchback as its “most ambitious VR project to date”.

It continued: “It has always been our aim to release in the launch window of the new PS VR2 headset but it is also massively important to us that you, the player, receive the most polished, terrifying experience possible when you strap in for your first ride in Switchback VR. With this in mind, we have made the difficult decision to set a new launch date of March 16th 2023.”

Supermassive Games ended the statement by thanking fans for their “excitement and patience” and hinted that they’ll be revealing more about the game soon.

Switchback VR is Supermassive Games’ fourth VR title, and the first to be self-published by the studio. The game is set on a fast-paced rollercoaster that takes you through five worlds based on The Dark Pictures franchise’s first season.

There are multiple paths to each track, and you’ll be required to move and shoot to survive each ride with the help of the PlayStation VR2’s adaptive triggers and haptic feedback.

The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR will release on March 16th, 2023, and you can pre-order it on the PlayStation Store now.
