Square Enix Delays Forspoken To October 2022
Square Enix has today (March 7th) delayed Forspoken to October 2022.
The game, which was originally set to launch in May for PS5 consoles and PC, has been delayed by five months to October to give the game’s developers – Luminous Productions – additional time to polish the game. The delay was announced on the official Forspoken Twitter account with a statement that reads:
“We have made the decision to move the release date of Forspoken to October 11, 2022. Our vision for this exciting new IP is to deliver a game world and hero that gamers across the globe will want to experience for years to come, so getting it right is extremely important to us.
“To that end, during the next few months we will focus all of our efforts on polishing the game and can’t wait for you to experience Frey’s journey this fall. Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We look forward to sharing more about Forspoken with you soon.”
The game follows Frey Holland, a young woman who is transported from New York City to the fantasy world of Athia, where she must use her newfound magical abilities to find her way home while facing Athia’s tyrannical rulers known as Tantas.
Gameplay consists of traversing the world of Athia on foot by running, climbing, and launching Frey at high speeds across the Forspoken’s open world. The game also features melee combat as well as ranged magic-based attacks.
Forspoken will release October 11th, 2022, for PC and PS5, and is available for pre-order now. You can check out the trailer below:
