Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time Artbook Hints At Spyro 4 Game
A Spyro 4 game may be on the way.
Last week, a teaser for Spyro 4 was spotted in the artbook for Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time. As reported by several other media outlets, the hard-to-spot reference was first discovered by Twitter account SpyroUniverse through scans of the artbook provided by CrashyNews.
In one of the concept art images of the artbook for the game’s Sn@xx Dimension, Spyro’s head can be seen at the bottom of the image under some flying cars. Underneath his head is what looks like the number four, implying that a new Spyro game may be on the way.
Although Spyro’s appearance in the concept art may just be a simple reference, a statement by Crash Bandicoot 4 concept artist Brun Croes suggests that it may be more BY noting that the art features a “little hint at Spyro.“
After a long hiatus following the release of 2008’s Dawn Of The Dragon as part of the rebooted Spyro trilogy, new games featuring the loveable purple dragon were put on hold until Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure released in 2011.
Several years later in 2018, and just one year after the release of the hugely successful Crash N. Sane Trilogy, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, a remake of the original three Spyro games, was released. With the recent release of Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, a sequel which takes place after the original three games, all eyes are on the Spyro franchise.
Fans have long called for a new game calling back to the franchise’s platforming roots, and if the concept art is hinting at a Spyro 4, we could see an announcement within the coming months, so watch this space!
