Sony Announces PS5 Game Updates And No Man’s Sky Next-Gen Upgrade

No Man's Sky PS5

Today’s been a busy day for PlayStation fans as Sony announced several new games for its upcoming PS5 console as well as a next-gen upgrade for No Man’s Sky.

Earlier today, Sony shared a slew of updates on games for the PS5 on the official PlayStation Blog. The first update announced by the tech giant was a next-gen upgrade for Hello Games’ No Man’s Sky which will be available at launch for free to all current No Man’s Sky players.

According to Hello Games founder Sean Murray, the next-gen upgrade will take advantage of the PS5’s hardware and will offer haptic controls; lusher, richer, and more densely populated worlds; multiplayer of up to 32 players; advanced 3D audio; 4K visuals at 60-frames-per-second; faster loading times; PlayStation VR compatibility; crossplay with other platforms and previous generations, and more.

Although no official date for the upgrade was announced, Murray has confirmed that it will be available to coincide with the PlayStation 5’s launch. You can watch a trailer for the upgrade below:

Haven PlayStation Release Dates Announced

Sony also announced romantic RPG Haven for PS5 and 4. In another PlayStation Blog post, The Game Bakers Creative Director Emeric Thoa shared more details about the game which allows you to play characters Kay and Yu at the same time.

The game can be played solo and through a seamless couch co-op experience through which the second player simply needs to press a button on another DualSense controller, with the game’s UI automatically showing that co-op has started.

In the post, Thoa explains how players will explore a deserted planet to collect flow and good, learning rust in search of resources and new paths. While exploring, one player will lead while the other follows and players can freely change leads when required.

During solo combat, the DualSense’s controller will be split in half, with the DPad being used to control Kay and the action buttons used to control Yu. In couch co-op, each player will control their characters and can combine actions.

More details as well as various clips from the game can be found in the official PlayStation Blog post. Haven will launch on PlayStation 5 on December 3rd, 2020, and on PS4 in early 2021. You can watch the NSFW trailer below:

Temtem PS5 Early Access Launches December

Today also saw an announcement that multiplayer creature-collection game Temtem will be launching on the PS5 with early access starting on December 8th.

In a blog post by Guillermo Andrades, the game will allow for crossplay between PS5 and PC players, and it’ll see players catch Tem, challenge other tamers, customise homes, and play co-op with friends.

Early access will allow players to access four of the six islands within the game, and Temtem’s main 30-hour-long campaign will require players to explore all six and catch more than 100 unique Tems. The campaign can be played solo or in co-op, and since Temtem is always online, players will be able to battle, trade, and chat with each other at all times.

The game can be pre-ordered at a discounted price right now and there are two versions available; a standard edition which includes the full game, early access, and pre-order titles and avatars, and a deluxe edition which includes all of that and a special early access Camo outfit.

More information about Temtem’s early access and post-main campaign content can be found in the PlayStation Blog post. Watch a trailer of the early access below:

Survival RPG Tribes Of Midgard Announced For 2021

The final game update shared today was that Norsfell’s survival action-RPG Tribes Of Midgard will be launching in 2021. The Norse-themed game will see players take on Ragnarok either alone or with a tribe of up to 10 players.

Players will be required to explore the game’s beautiful world and along the way encounter various mythical beasts, hunt animals, harvest resources, craft weapons and armour, boost village defences, and face the terrifying Jötunn (Giants) to protect the Seed of Yggdrasil.

Maps within the game are procedurally generated so there will always be new environments to explore, enemies to fight, and resources to gather. Tribes Of Midgard will also include spontaneous events, character and tribe upgrades, plus plenty more.

Additional details regarding the game can be found in the PlayStation Blog post, and we can expect more details within the coming months as the title gears up for a 2021 release.
