Naughty Dog Says Multiplayer Game Needs ‘More Time’, Confirms New Single-Player Experience
Developer Naughty Dog has issued a statement stating that its upcoming multiplayer game needs “more time” while confirming the development of a brand-new single-player experience.
Many fans were left disappointed after Naughty Dog’s The Last Of Us multiplayer game – and other titles from Sony’s first-party studios – didn’t make an appearance at PlayStation’s 2023 Showcase earlier this week.
Naughty Dog has seemingly heard concerns over the game’s absence and issued a statement earlier today, confirming that the studio is proud of the job they’ve done but “as development has continued, we’ve realised what is best for the game is to give it more time.”
The developer then confirmed the development of a new single-player experience, stating: “Our team will continue to work on the project, as well as our other games in development, including a brand-new single-player experience; we look forward to sharing more soon.”
Naughty Dog didn’t offer any additional details on when to expect more information on either title, but thanked fans for their support.
The Last Of Us multiplayer game was announced back in 2018 as it was set to launch alongside The Last Of Us Part II, but the game eventually grew into a standalone title. Since then, Naughty Dog has released two pieces of concept art, although The Last Of Us co-creator Neil Druckmann promised back in January that we’d get more information this year.
Fans are hopeful that the game will make an appearance at Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest, but after the above statement, that may not be likely!
