Gibbon: Beyond The Trees gets limited physical edition for Nintendo Switch
Super Rare Games has announced that hand-drawn adventure game Gibbon: Beyond The Trees is getting a limited physical edition of 3,000 copies for the Nintendo Switch next week.
The game follows a lost gibbon as they embark on a dangerous journey into unknown lands, where you’ll move through 2D hand-painted environments like the wild jungles of Southeast Asia and the busy, concrete human world.
With movement inspired by real gibbons’ brachiation, you’ll have to master acrobatics using your environment and other gibbons to help you, all while experiencing a touching hour-long adventure in Story Mode about a family of gibbons trying to survive a human threat.
Outside of the Story Mode, you can try your hand at Liberation Mode, where you race to freedom through a procedurally generated jungle, or you can take part in leaderboard competitions in the Daily Run Mode.
Gibbon: Beyond The Trees is available now digitally for PC and Switch, but the Switch physical edition of the game will release on October 10th, 2024 via Super Rare Games.
It will include a physical copy of the game, an exclusive pop-out Gibbon postcard, and an extended art manual with the story of Gibbon, concept art, and information on the charity NGOs.
Super Rare Games will also run a charity auction for two Gibbon: Beyond The Trees plaques, in support of the charities linked to the game: Gibbon Rehabilitation Project, Gibbon Conservation Society, Rainforest Rescue, and Bruno Manser Fonds.
The plaques include the game case, a sticker, and a set of trading cards. The auction will run between October 10th and 20th, with the winning bids donated entirely to the four charities mentioned above.
