Far Cry 6 And Rainbow Six Quarantine Have Been Delayed
Ubisoft has delayed Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six Quarantine have both been delayed to later in 2021.
The news was announced as part of Ubisoft’s latest earnings report which was released yesterday, and it revealed that Far Cry Six, which was originally set to release February 2021, and Rainbow Six Quarantine, which had a targeted release for 2020, have both been delayed to between April 2021 and March 2022.
In the first-half 2020-21 earnings statement, Ubisoft explained that it delayed the games to “leverage their full potential in the context of production challenges caused by COVID-19”.
The Far Cry 6 development team issued a statement about the delay on their Twitter account, adding clarification to the delay. The statement reads:
“Earlier this year, we introduced you to Far Cry 6 – the most ambitious game in the series to date. We promised an immersive fantasy to lead a modern-day guerrilla revolution set in a rich and exotic world, filled with memorable moments, killer characters and an epic story.
“While we know you are all anxious to get your hands on Far Cry 6, we want to let you know that we’ve been given more time to allow us to make this the game you aspire to play while focusing on the well-being of our teams in this unprecedented global context.”
It continues: “Our teams around the world are working in the studios and from their homes to pour their passion and creativity into making an unforgettable game – one we hope you will love. We hope you are all safe and healthy, and get ready to experience Yara and Far Cry 6 soon.”
Also in the earnings report, Ubisoft provided an update on its supposed “culture transformation” after a slew of reports over the summer unveiled the company’s toxic work culture as well as a series of sexual misconduct allegations involving senior staff.
According to Ubisoft, the publisher is working to carry out actions and implement the necessary resources to address the issues. This includes anti-sexism and harassment training, as well as the recruitment of a VP of Global Diversity and Inclusion.
