Cyberpunk 2077 To Get First Major Expansion In 2023, New 1.6 Update Out Now

Cyberpunk 2077 Expansion

Developer CD Projekt Red has announced that it will be launching the first major expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 in 2023.

The expansion – titled Phantom Liberty – was announced during today’s Night City Wire livestream, where the studio confirmed that DLC will release only for PC and PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles – not on last-gen consoles.

Phantom Liberty will take place in a brand-new district within Night City, and a brief teaser trailer released alongside the announcement sees V take an oath of allegiance to serve the New United States of America, which Johnny Silverhand – voiced by a returning Keanu Reeves – calls a “bad idea”.

Alongside announcing the new expansion pack, CD Projekt Red confirmed the release of a new 1.6 patch for Cyberpunk 2077 today (September 6th), which will be the final update for the last-gen versions of the game.

The patch – named the Edgerunners Update due to its crossover with the upcoming Netflix animated show – adds a slew of items from the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners show, including a shotgun owned by a character from the show, protagonist David Martinez’s jacket, and more.

It also adds a brand-new quest that ties Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and Cyberpunk 2077 together, the ability to change your character’s appearance via a mirror or at ripperdocs, and a transmog system – the ability to wear whatever you want without it impacting your character’s stats.

Finally, the new patch introduces new weapons and gigs, the ability to play the Roach Race mini-game at arcade machines, and numerous bug fixes, which you can read about over at the Cyberpunk website.

The Edgerunners Update is available now for all platforms and the Phantom Liberty update will launch in 2023 for PC and new-gen consoles, with more information available soon.
