CD Projekt Red Announces New Witcher Game
Developer CD Projekt Red has announced that it’s developing a brand-new Witcher game.
The studio made the announcement in a post on their official website, confirming that a new game in The Witcher franchise is currently in development.
In addition, CD Projekt Red revealed that the upcoming game will mark the studio’s move from their REDengine to Unreal Engine 5 under a multi-year strategic partnership with Epic Games that will cover licensing, technical development of the engine, and potential future versions of Unreal Engine.
Despite the move, the studio highlighted that REDengine, which powers Cyberpunk 2077, is still being used for the development of Cyberpunk 2077’s upcoming expansion.
No further details were shared about the new Witcher game, but the image shared by CD Projekt Red features a Witcher medallion buried in snow with the words “A new saga begins”.
The last mainline Witcher title – The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – was released back in 2015 and a new-gen update is expected to launch later this year.
