Abandoned Developer Blue Box Game Studios Responds To Cancellation Rumours

Abandoned Cancellation Rumours

Abandoned developer Blue Box Game Studios has responded to cancellation rumours on Twitter and reiterated that the game is still currently in the works.

Earlier this week, Blue Box Game Studios reportedly deleted various tweets about Abandoned, including those detailing an upcoming playable demo that has yet to release.

Reports on the deleted tweets and various delays sparked rumours that the game has been cancelled or is a scam, but Blue Box Game Studios issued a statement yesterday (March 31st) on Twitter, confirming that the game is still currently in development.

The statement reads: “Recently we have been bombarded with requests and questions regarding the development status for Abandoned. In regards to the latest rumours regarding Abandoned being cancelled, our response to this is that these rumours are false.

“We are working on the reveal via the Realtime Experience app and online channels along with the Prologue of the game. These were initially planned for Q1 2022 but, unfortunately, we aren’t ready yet as we underestimated our development roadmap.”

The statement continues: “Therefore we have delayed the reveal and the release for Abandoned: Prologue. We will release Abandoned: Prologue when it’s stable, good and ready.

“We are aware of your frustration and we deeply, sincerely apologise for this. We will continue to work on the game and we will notify you when we are ready. Our sincere apologies.”

It seems we’ll have to wait a little longer to discover more about the PlayStation 5 exclusive and Blue Box Game Studios. Stick with us for the latest.
