Open-World Indie Game Tchia Has Been Delayed To Early 2023

Developer Awaceb has delayed its upcoming tropical open-world indie game Tchia.

The game was announced at PlayStation’s 2021 September showcase with a planned release date of 2022, but a new tweet shared by the developers this week has confirmed a delay to early 2023.

In the Twitter post, game director Phil Crifo said: “We are overwhelmed by how far this project, inspired by a tiny island we call home, has brought us. After three years of passion and hard work, we owe it to ourselves and everyone who has been supportive to deliver the best game we possibly can.

“To that end, we have decided to move our release window to early 2023. This extra time will allow us to really polish every aspect of the game and flesh out all the little details that we know will make Tchia a really special experience.”

Crifo ended the post by thanking fans for their continued support and confirming that the studio has a “lot of exciting things to show on the road to launch”.

The game is set on an archipelago, where you’ll be able to use Tchia‘s special ability to take control of any animal or object to climb, glide, swim, and sail across the world, while also playing on your ukelele.

There are secrets to uncover, puzzles to solve, customisation options, and a heartfelt story with a diverse cast of characters that are inspired by New Caledonian cultures. The game’s cutscenes are fully animated and voiced in traditional language that is bolstered by an original orchestral score.

The game is expected to release on PC and PlayStation consoles when it launches next year. Check out the trailer below:
