Here’s Everything That Was Revealed In Nintendo’s May Indie Showcase
Nintendo aired its latest Indie World Showcase today, sharing information on all the indie titles coming to the Nintendo Switch this year.
The showcase, which was announced yesterday (May 10th), ran for roughly 25 minutes and revealed a total of 20 games set to launch within the next seven months. Take a look at everything that was revealed in the Nintendo Indie World Showcase:
Ooblets
Ooblets is a life simulation game developed by Glumberland, which is expected to release on Nintendo Switch this summer.
In the game, you start a new life on a rundown farm in Badgetown located in Oob, where you’ll grow Ooblets and collect them, run your own shop, explore the various biomes of Oob, meet new characters, encounter wild Ooblets, and customise your character and your home.
Batora: Lost Haven
Batora: Lost Haven is a hack and slash RPG shooter game from Stormind Games that will release on the Nintendo Switch this autumn.
The game follows average 16-year-old Avril, whose life is turned upside-down when her home planet is decimated. To save her planet, Anvril must use her extraordinary powers and embark on a cosmic journey where she’ll discover that the line between good and evil is mercilessly thin.
ElecHead
ElecHead was also announced for the Nintendo Switch with a release window of summer 2022.
Developed by NamaTakahashi, the game is a 2D puzzle platformer in which you play as robot Elec, whose on a mission to restore light to the world. To do so, you’ll need to navigate a facility filled with dangerous traps, and must use your electrical powers and removable head to navigate the dungeon and uncover secrets.
Soundfall
Dungeon crawler Soundfall was featured in the Indie Showcase too, available now.
The rhythm-based title from Drastic Games combines looter-shooter action with fast-paced gameplay. You play as a Guardian of Harmony, you’re transported to the world of Symphonia to battle the forces of Discord and restore peace to the world. Play solo or with up to four players in co-op as one of five unique characters, unlock powerful abilities, and select from a wide range of music.
Wildfrost
Wildfrost is a roguelike card-battling game from Deadpan Games, which is expected to release this Winter.
The game is set in a world on the brink of destruction, where you’ll need to use deck-building tactics to battle enemies and reach the Sun Temple, where you’ll be able to banish the Wildfrost and restore peace to the world.
Totally Accurate Battle Simulator
The Nintendo Indie Showcase also featured Totally Accurate Battle Simulator from Landfall Games and Markd Limited, which is set to release this summer for the Nintendo Switch.
In the game, you’ll lead wobblers from ancient lands, spooky locations, and fantasy worlds into battle. The game features ragdoll physics, as well as single-player campaigns, multiplayer features, a campaign and battle creator, and a unit and faction creator too.
Gunbrella
Gunbrella is a side-scrolling noir-punk action game by Doinksoft that is set to release in 2023 for the Nintendo Switch.
The game is set in a world dependent on a rapidly diminishing natural resource, and you take control of a gruff woodsman on a quest for revenge. Armed with the mysterious Gunbrella (A firearm that doubles as an umbrella), the woodsman’s quest becomes entangled with the inner workings of ghouls and gangsters, cops, and cultists, and a dangerous corporation.
We Are OFK
We Are OFK is a biopic about an indie pop band, with the title being a combination of game and actual music with a release window of summer 2022.
The game follows the lives of the four members of OFK as they attempt to break into the music businesses, fall in and out of love, and figure out to make a living in Los Angeles. It will be told across five episodes featuring interactive music videos and debut tracks performed by the OFK band.
SILT
SILT is an underwater puzzle-adventure game by Spiral Circus that is expected to launch next month for the Nintendo Switch.
In the game, you play as a diver searching the deep sea to uncover long-forgotten mysteries. To do so, you must discover strange organisms and possess them to solve puzzles and travel further into the darkness.
Mini Motorways
Dinosaur Polo Club’s Mini Motorways was also featured in the Indie Showcase. The game, already out for iOS and other platforms, is a strategy simulation game that launched on the Nintendo Switch today (May 11th).
The game requires you to build a traffic network for a growing city by constructing one road at a time and redesigning older roads, placing motorways and roundabouts, and monitoring traffic. The game also allows you to build on maps inspired by cities from around the world.
Wayward Strand
Wayward Strand was also shown in the Indie Showcase with an expected release date of July 21st, 2022.
The game is a heartfelt interactive story that follows Casey Beaumaris, an intrepid teenage journalist who visits an airborne hospital for the first time, uncovers its secrets, and explores the lives of its mysterious inhabitants.
Cult Of The Lamb
Cult Of The Lamb is an action-adventure fighting game from Massive Monster that is set to release later this year for the Nintendo Switch.
Developed by Massive Monster, the game sees you play as a possessed lamb who, after being saved from annihilation by an ominous stranger, must repay their debt by building a loyal following in their name. You’ll need to start a cult and venture out into diverse and mysterious regions to build worshippers, perform dark rituals, and collect resources to build new structures.
Another Crab’s Treasure
The last game to take focus in the Indie Showcase was Aggro Crab’s souls-like game, Another Crab’s Treasure, which is set to release in 2023.
The game is set in a crumbling underwater world plagued by a mysterious curse. You’ll play as a hermit crab named Kril who embarks on a treasure hunt to buy back your repossessed shell, and will need to wear the trash around you as temporary shells to withstand attack from enemies. Face enemies, learn powerful attacks, explore the depths of the ocean, and uncover the secrets behind the polluted sea.
