Elden Ring Limgrave Bosses – All Main And Optional Bosses
Elden Ring differentiates itself from previous Souls-like games thanks to its open-world design, and this change has meant that there’s been a substantial increase in the number of bosses in the game, all hoarding Runes, talismans, and other items to assist you on your journey. To help you work out which bosses you’ve faced and which are still left, we’ve put together this handy Elden Ring Limgrave boss guide.

Main Limgrave
Limgrave is the first area you’ll explore in Elden Ring, the mainland of Limgrave is home to the highest number of bosses in the region, a majority of which can be found openly when exploring, while others are located in caves, catacombs, gaols, and even behind fog walls.
Soldier Of Godrick
The Soldier Of Godrick will likely be the first boss you face in Elden Ring as he can be found at the end of the Stranded Graveyard tutorial area, which is accessed by jumping into the pit after leaving the first room following your death to the Grafted Scion.
The Soldier Of Godrick is one of the easier bosses in Elden Ring as he performs incredibly predictable and slow attacks with his heavy sword. If you’re a melee player, you’ll want to use your shield and perform counterattacks or dodge and attack when you spot an opening. Magic users can simply use the Glintstone Pebble or other ranged attacks to quickly dispatch the boss.
Reward
• 400 Runes
Patches The Untethered
Patches The Untethered or simply Patches, is a unique boss that you can find at Murkwater Cave just off Murkwater River, which branches off the northern part of Lake Agheel in central Limgrave. Be careful, however, as you approach Murkwater Cave, as you’ll be invaded by Bloody Finger Nerijus. The game will automatically summon Bloody Finger Hunter Yura to help you.
Murkwater Cave is filled with Highwaymen enemies, and will end in a wide room with a chest. After opening it, Patches will enter and trigger the boss fight. Once you’ve depleted a majority of his health, he will surrender – you’ll need to immediately stop attacking or risk continuing the fight and missing out on his quest and items. If you forgive him, he’ll open as a merchant in the cave and be summoned for a boss fight later in the game. He also unlocks the Mercy gesture.
Rewards (If Killed)
• 800 Runes
• Spear +7
• Leather Boots
• Leather Gloves
• Leather Armour
Golden Rune (1) x2
Tibia Mariner
The Tibia Mariner is an Elden Ring boss that you’ll find in several regions across the Lands Between. The first of the skeletal bosses can be found at Summonwater Village in the northern parts of Limgrave and just west of the Limgrave and Caelid border.
Throughout the fight, the Tibia Mariner will summon other skeletons to attack you, and will teleport across the flooded area as well as on land. The Marine will also attack with his boat, as well as perform several incantations. You’ll want to stay on your horse throughout the fight and hit the Mariner as you dash around him and avoid his attacks. If you’re a sorcerer, use spells like the Glintstone Pebble to attack from a distance, and use a summons to distract the Mariner and his summoned skeletons.
Rewards
• 2,400 Runes
• Deathroot
• Skeletal Bandit Ashes
Tree Sentinel
The Tree Sentinel is a boss that can be found in central Limgrave, wandering just beyond the game’s first Site Of Grace. Although the boss is one of the first you’ll spot when emerging into Elden Ring’s open world, it’s too challenging for a new player, and we suggest you return to the Tree Sentinel once you’ve levelled up a little.
It’s better to face the Tree Sentinel on horseback and use a summon to distract him. You’ll need to dash around him and avoid his attacks before performing your own. However, note that the Tree Sentinel hits hard and can make quick work of you at the beginning of the game. If you’re a sorcerer, you’ll be able to attack from a distance using magic, but avoid casting spells when the Tree Sentinel holds his golden shield up as it will deflect all projectiles.
Rewards
• 3,200 Runes
• Golden Halberd
Ulcerated Tree Spirit
The Ulcerated Tree Spirit is a deformed tree that can be found in two areas in the game. This Elden Ring boss can be found at the Fringefolk Hero’s Grave at the end of the fog wall that requires two Stonesword Keys in the Stranded Graveyard. You’re better off waiting until you’ve levelled up somewhat to enter this dungeon, as you’ll face tough enemies on your journey to the boss, including a Chariot, several imps, and a few Grafted Scions too.
The Ulcerated Tree Spirit is aggressive and manic, but can perform several devastating attacks, including a bite attack, several charge attacks, claw swipes, and spewing fire. You’ll need to try and memorise the boss’ attack patterns and dodge them, while trying to get a hit in when you can, whether you’re playing melee or ranged.
Rewards
• 15,000 Runes
• Golden Seed
• Banished Knight Oleg Ashes
Stonedigger Troll
The Stonedigger Troll is an Elden Ring Limgrave boss that can be found in the Limgrave Tunnels located north of Agheel Lake. You can spot it easily on the map by the black circle, which indicates tunnels and mines with lots of upgradeable resources. The mine is easy being the first you’ll find in the game and is filled with rats, miners, and dogs.
The Stonedigger Troll Elden Ring boss is found at the end of the tunnel. His attacks are slow and easy to read, but they can do lots of damage to anyone with low vitality. He’ll sweep and slam with his club, slam with his feet, and strike the ground. Melee users should prioritise dodging and hitting when there’s an opening, while ranged users should attack from a distance.
Rewards
• 18,000 Runes
• Roar Medallion
Night’s Cavalry
The Night’s Cavalry is an Elden Ring boss that can be found throughout the game in multiple regions, but they only appear at night. The first Night’s Cavalry boss you’ll face is likely the one positioned in Limgrave that patrols the bridge that runs over Murkwater River and the northern part of Agheel Lake.
Night’s Cavalry isn’t a difficult boss, but he can deal lots of damage to early players. He’ll remain on horseback for the duration of the fight, and it’s strongly recommended that you do the same too. If you manage to knock the Night’s Calvary off his horse, he’ll summon the horse again. We suggest you dash around him, avoiding his attacks and making hits when you can. If you’re a sorcerer, try to get a distance from the Night’s Cavalry and cast spells when he’s running directly to you, guaranteeing hits.
Rewards
• 2,400 Runes
• Ashe Of War: Repeating Thrust
Mad Pumpkin Head
Mad Pumpkin Head is a boss variation of the regular Mad Pumpkin Head enemy. There are two boss variations in Elden Ring, and the first can be found inside Waypoint Ruins, located east of Agheel Lake. Guarding the ruins are small poison flowers and a giant poison flower, which you’ll need to take down before descending under the ruins.
The Mad Pumpkin Head Elden Ring boss is slow, making it easy for you to read his attacks and dodge or deflect his attacks. If you’re using spells or incantations, make sure you avoid hitting his head as the helmet will soak most of the damage. Try to attack when he’s turned around, guaranteeing a hit with damage.
Reward
• 1,100 Runes
Grave Warden Duelist
The Grave Warden Duelist is an Elden Ring boss fight that is found in the Murkwater Catacombs, located north of Murkwater Cave and further along Murkwater River. The catacomb is filled with imps and traps that shoot projectiles, so be aware of your surroundings at all times while progressing to the catacombs’ lever to open the boss door.
The Grave Warden Duelist performs several swing attacks, as well as a hand grab that deals lots of damage, and a jump smash with his hammer. All of these can be avoidable and are easily telegraphed, so take your time in avoiding the deadly attacks and hitting back at your first opportunity.
Rewards
• 1,300 Runes
• Banished Knight Engvall Ashes
Flying Dragon Agheel
Flying Dragon Agheel is an Elden Ring boss that can be found on Agheel Lake. The dragon spawns as you approach a small island in the northern part of the lake, but due to its sheer strength, the boss is better left to fight against later once you’ve levelled up somewhat.
It’s a good idea to remain on your horse for the duration of the boss fight, attacking as you ride around his legs to deal damage slowly while avoiding his fire attacks, bites, and charge attacks. Magic users should remain on horseback too and should cast spells aiming at Agheel’s head, which will do the most damage.
Rewards
• 5,000 Runes
• Dragon Heart
Erdtree Burial Watchdog
The Erdtree Burial Watchdog is an Elden Ring boss that can be found throughout the Lands Between. The first Erdtree Burial Watchdog you’ll likely encounter is the boss found at Stormfoot Catacombs, located in a cave in western Limgrave. Like most other catacombs, you’ll have to face several imps and avoid traps to reach the Erdtree Burial Watchdog boss.
Erdtree Burial Watchdogs are relatively easy bosses as they’re rather slow. However, they can perform devastating slam attacks and fire breathing attacks that deal lots of damage. They can also perform special moves in which their movement speeds up, potentially taking you off-guard. Magic is incredibly useful in this fight, particularly if you summon spirits for the battle.
Rewards
• 1,300 Runes
• Noble Sorcerer Ashes
Demi-Human Chief
The Demi-Human Chief is a Limgrave Elden Ring boss found in the Coastal Cave in western Limgrave. The cave is filled with demi-human enemies, as well as NPC Boc. The boss fight in the Coastal Cave requires you to fight two Demi-Human Chiefs, along with several minor demi-human enemies too.
The first Demi-Human Chief will be immediately available to fight, but we suggest you first clear out the minor demi-human enemies as they can easily gang up on you. The second Demi-Human Chief will eventually join the fight, and you may be required to take on both bosses at the same time. Summoning spirits will help greatly in this fight to distract one of the two bosses, and the Demi-Human Chiefs are extremely weak to magic.
Rewards
• 1,200 Runes
• Tailoring Tools
• Sewing Needle
Deathbird
Deathbirds are Elden Ring bosses that can be found throughout the game. The first Deathbird Elden Ring boss can be found in Limgrave, east of Warmaster’s Shack beyond a cliff. Deathbirds are strange creatures that attack with their bodies and occasionally with a weapon, such as a cane.
You’re going to want to avoid his quick attacks and the more devastating heavy attacks, such as the ground slams. The key to this fight is either staying close if you’re using a melee-based weapon, or keeping the enemy at range and casting spells and other incantations from a safe distance.
Rewards
• 2,800 Runes
• Blue-Feathered Branchsword
Bloodhound Knight Darriwil
Bloodhound Knight Darriwil is an Elden Ring boss that can be found at the Forlorn Hound Evergaol in Limgrave, located in southern Limgrave to the west of the bridge connecting Limgrave and Weeping Peninsula. To access the boss, you’ll need to approach the evergoal and teleport to the boss’ location.
Bloodhound Knight Darriwil is a fast and aggressive boss that will keep you on your toes for the duration of the fight. He turns invisible when dashing, and performs several slash and claw attacks that can build up the Hemorrhage status that’ll take a large chunk of your health. You’re going to want to avoid his attacks as much as possible and be careful with shield use, as Hemorrhage can still build up when using them.
Rewards
• 1,900 Runes
• Bloodhound’s Fang
Black Knife Assassins
Black Knife Assassins are Elden Ring bosses that you’ll encounter regularly throughout the game. The first you’ll likely find will be the assassin in the Deathtouched Catacombs in northern Limgrave, which is filled with skeletons. Remember, after defeating them, make sure to hit the skeletons’ bodies when it’s glowing to kill them for good and prevent resurrections.
When it comes to the Black Knife Assassin, the boss is fast and performs several quick attacks, as well as stronger slam and grab attacks that can deal tremendous amounts of damage. Thankfully they are easily staggered, so be quick on your feet and get as much damage in as you can.
Rewards
• 1,600 Runes
• Assassin’s Crimson Dagger
Beastman Of Farum Azula
The Beastman Of Farum Azula can be found in the Groveside Cave in Limgrave, west of Agheel Lake and north of the Church Of Elleh. The cave is rather easy to navigate, filled only with wolf enemies that are quick to dispatch. The boss, however, can be a little bit more complicated depending on your level and stats.
The Beastman likes to perform several long combos that can deplete your stamina and leave you open for an attack. He’s fast and aggressive, but can be parried if you’re skilled enough. He’s also easily staggered, which will leave him open for attacks, and he’s relatively weak to magic.
Rewards
• 1,000 Runes
• Flamedrake Talisman
Weeping Peninsula
Weeping Peninsula is a region located within Limgrave that can be accessed by riding south and crossing a bridge. It’s smaller than the Limgrave mainland, but is home to several small dungeons and bosses, numerous NPCs, and resources too.
Leonine Misbegotten
Leonine Misbegotten is an Elden Ring boss that can be found at the end of Castle Morne in the southernmost part of Weeping Peninsula. You’ll need to make your way through Castle Morne, and take on various enemies, including misbegotten and soldiers. Leonine can be found past several jellyfish on a small patch of land beyond a fog gate.
Leonine is incredibly fast and aggressive, performing numerous slashes and combos, as well as a roar that can stagger you. You’ll have to remain patient and dodge around Leonine until you spot openings within his moveset to attack. Note that he’s fairly weak to fire.
Rewards
• 3,800 Runes
• Grafted Blade Greatsword
Runebear
Runebear is a ferocious Elden Ring boss that can be found within the Earthbore Cave in Weeping Peninsula. The cave can be found west of the bridge leading to Limgrave and is filled with small and giant rats. The Runebear boss can be found sleeping at the end of the cave in a room with an elevated platform.
The Runebear itself isn’t difficult, but the small room in which the fight takes place makes the fight harder as you’ll likely struggle to dodge the Runebear’s attacks. You’ll want to use spirit summons to help you in the fight, as they’ll distract the Runebear and allow you to attack it with ease.
Rewards
• 2,600 Runes
• Spelldrake Talisman
Scaly Misbegotten
Scaly Misbegotten is a boss variation of the misbegotten enemies. The Elden Ring boss can be found inside Morne Tunnel, located towards the southern part of central Weeping Peninsula. The tunnel is filled with various upgrade materials, as well as miners and ordinary misbegotten enemies. The Scaly Misbegotten can be found at the end of the tunnel.
The boss is weak to fire, lightning, holy, and magic damage, and has several slow attacks that you can easily dodge or use to your advantage for backstabs. Magic is highly useful against the Scaly Misbegotten, and also using spirit summons can make quick work of the boss.
Rewards
• 2,000 Runes
• Rusted Anchor
Night’s Cavalry
The second Night’s Cavalry can be found on the road towards Castle Morne. As we explained, Night’s Cavalry isn’t a difficult boss but can deal lots of damage to early players. We recommend you stay on horseback for the duration of the fight and attack as you dash around him. Magic users should use Glintstone spells to attack the Night’s Calvary, dashing around and waiting until he is facing you to cast as that’ll guarantee a hit and prevent him from dodging the spell.
Rewards
• 3,400 Runes
• Nightrider Flail
• Ash Of War: Barricade Shield
Erdtree Burial Watchdog
Another Erdtree Burial Watchdog boss fight can be found in the Impaler’s Catacombs in the northeasternmost part of Weeping Peninsula. The catacombs are filled with imps, traps, and zombies too. The boss is the same as the Burial Watchdog located in Limgrave but is accompanied by several imps that can easily gang up on you.
We suggest you utilise spirit summons to help you in the fight, distracting some of the imps and the Watchdog as you clear the minor enemies. Once the imps have been dispatched, you’ll be able to focus solely on the Erdtree Burial Watchdog. Remember, he’s slow but can perform several ranged attacks that may catch you off guard.
Rewards
• 2,400 Runes
• Demi-Human Ashes
Erdtree Avatar
Erdtree Avatar is a type of Elden Ring boss that can be found at the foot of most minor Erdtrees. The first you’ll likely face can be found at the minor Erdtree located at the centre of Weeping Peninsula, surrounded by several enemies. The best way to fight the Erdtree Avatar is by dashing around the boss on horseback, avoiding the pots littered around the boss area.
Try to continuously circle the Erdtree Avatar if space permits, and run in to attack when you can. The staff the Avatars use have insane reach, so keep your distance and only run in to attack or, if you’re a sorcerer, cast spells from a safe distance. You’ll also want to keep an eye on their magic attack in which the Avatar slams the ground with their staff and shoots several golden orbs – avoid them by dashing around the Avatar. Erdtree Avatars drops runes and Flask of Wondrous Physick materials.
Rewards
• 3.600 Runes
• Opaline Bubbletear
• Crimsonburst Crystal Tear
Deathbird
There’s a second Deathbird boss located in Limgrave, this time in the Weeping Peninsula section of the region. The boss is just north of Castle Morne, located under a cliff. Like the main Limgrave Deathbird, you’ll want to avoid this boss’ quick attacks and the more devastating heavy attacks. Keep close to its legs or keep the boss a safe distance away while you cast spells.
Rewards
• 3,900 Runes
• Sacrificial Axe
Cemetery Shade
Cemetery Shade is an Elden Ring boss that can be found in various catacombs throughout the game. The first Cemetery Shade you can fight can be found in the Tombswards Catacombs in western Weeping Peninsula, north of the Minor Erdtree. The catacombs are filled with skeletons utilising swords, shields, and ranged weapons too.
Cemetery Shade can inflict bleed damage, taking a large chunk of your health if built up enough. You’re going to want to block his various stabs and slashes and perform critical attacks. Magic users will have an easier time, and the Cemetery Shade is extremely weak to holy damage, so faith-based weapons are a good idea here.
Rewards
• 2,200 Runes
• Lhutel The Headless Ashes

Rewards
• 5,400 Runes
• Radagon’s Scarseal
Stormhill
Stormhill is a region located on the Limgrave mainland that is located just below Stormveil Castle. It’s one of the smaller regions in Limgrave and filled with various NPCs you’ll want to interact with, numerous soldiers and knights, and wildlife too.
Margit, The Fell Omen
Margit, The Fell Omen is one of the first main bosses you’ll encounter in Elden Ring. Although he isn’t mandatory, you will need to defeat him if you want to progress into Stormveil Castle and reach Godrick The Grafted, one of the game’s several shardbearers. Margit is a tough enemy; he’s fast, aggressive, and can perform long combos that you’ll find difficult to block successfully.
There are two phases to his attack, and Margit will utilise a hammer in the second phase that can deal more damage. You’ll want to memorise all of his attacks to know when to dodge, as some have a long wind-up that’ll cause you to get hit after dodging too early. It’s a good idea to summon ashes to distract Margit and potentially stagger him, and to use the Margit’s Shackles items you can purchase from Patches, which shackle him to the ground and gives you some attack time.
Rewards
• 12,000 Runes
• Talisman Pouch
Crucible Knight
The Crucible Knight is an Elden Ring boss that can be found in the Stormhill Evergoal in the southern part of Stormhill. You’ll need to examine the evergoal to teleport into it and face the Crucible Knight Elden Ring boss. Crucible Knight’s attacks deal lots of damage, but they’re slow and can be easily read.
The boss is hard to stagger and in his second phase, develops a flying ability in which he’ll fly across the arena and swipe at you, attacks that can be dodged. Since he has a shield, he’ll easily block magic spells, so make sure to bring plenty of FP flasks as you’ll need to whittle away his health.
Rewards
• 2,100 Runes
• Aspects Of The Crucible Tail
Bell Bearing Hunter
The Bell Bearing Hunter is an Elden Ring boss that can be found in various locations throughout the game. The first time you’ll meet the boss is at Warmaster’s Shack at night. Stick to blocking or dodging his attacks and then hitting him whenever you spot gaps in his moveset. If you’re using magic, make sure to keep a safe distance from the Bell Bearing Hunter.
Rewards
• 2,700 Runes
• Bone Peddler’s Bell Bearing
Stormveil Castle
Stormveil Castle is the legacy dungeon of the Limgrave region. It can be found in Stormhill and can only be accessed by defeating Margit, The Fell Omen. There are numerous enemies in the area, including trolls, living jars, guards, knights, eagles, and more. Right at the end, you’ll encounter Godrick The Grafted, one of the game’s many shardbearers and a main but optional boss.
Godrick The Grafted
Godrick The Grafted is the final main boss of the Limgrave region. The fight consists of two phases; the first in which Godrick will perform a series of melee attacks with his axe, and the second in which he grafts a dragon’s head onto his arm and use it to breathe fire and perform other attacks. Godrick hits hard and is incredibly aggressive, mostly utilising combos that you’ll find difficult to successfully block and dodge.
You’re going to need to take your time with Godrick and attack only when you spot openings. Magic users will have an easier time as you can easily keep your distance from Godrick and focus on dodging his dangerous attacks. Spirit summons are incredibly useful here, distracting Godrick and giving you time to face him yourself.
Rewards
• 20,000 Runes
• Godrick’s Great Rune
• Remembrance Of The Grafted
