[UPDATE] Sony Postpones PS5 Game Showcase Indefinitely
Update: Sony announced on June 1st, 2020, that it had indefinitely postponed its PS5 Game showcase due to the ongoing Black Lives Matter protests occurring worldwide. In its statement, Sony stated the reason for the delay is to “stand back and allow more important voices to be heard”.
No rescheduled date has been announced but Sony provided an update in the description of the YouTube video announcing the event, stating that tech giant will be in touch with a new date “soon”.
Sony PlayStation has officially announced a digital PS5 game showcase for early June.
The tech giant announced in a blog post on the official PlayStation website today (May 29th) that it will be holding a digital PS5 game showcase event on June 4th which it describes as “the future of gaming”.
In the blog post, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO and President Jim Ryan touched on recent PS5 reveals of the new DualSense wireless controller and console specs before stating: “But what is a launch without games?”
Ryan then explained that the event will provide a first-look at some of the games launching on the PS5 console after its launch later this year. He explained:
“The games coming to PS5 represent the best in the industry from innovative studios that span the globe. Studios, both larger and smaller, those newer and those more establised, all have been hard at work developing games that will showcase the potential of the hardware.”
According to Ryan, the PS5 games showcase will run for just more than an hour and will be the first of many upcoming PS5 reveal events planned by Sony. Ryan said: “This is part of our series of PS5 updates and, rest assured, after next week’s showcase, we will still have much to share with you.”
You can watch Sony’s PS5 games showcase on Twitch and YouTube on June 4th at 9 PM BST.
