Ubisoft Delays Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time Remake Indefinitely
Developer Ubisoft has delayed its Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time remake indefinitely.
The Prince Of Persia remake was announced back in September with a release date for January 2021. The game was then delayed to March 2021, and it’s now been delayed again with an unspecified date.
The game’s developers announced the delay in statement via a tweet published earlier today. The statement reads: “Since announcing Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time remake in September, we saw an outpouring of feedback from you on this beloved franchise.
“It is your passion and support that is driving our development teams to make the best game possible. With that said, we have made the decision to shift the release for Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time remake to a later date. This extra development time will enable our teams to deliver a remake that feels fresh while remaining faithful to the original.
“We understand the update might come as a surprise and we will continue to keep you posted on the progress of Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time remake. In the meantime, we want to thank you all for your ongoing support.”
The original Sands Of Time released in 2003 for PS2, Gamecube, and Xbox to critical acclaim. The title acted as a reboot of the Prince Of Persia series and it was succeeded by Prince Of Persia: Warrior Within.
According to the remake’s developers, the upcoming release will include improved visuals, combat, and better combat. However, when the remake was announced the game was hit with criticism over its supposed “improved” visuals, forcing Ubisoft to issue a statement claiming the visual style was an intentional choice as they wanted it to be “unique”.
When it releases, the Sands Of Time remake will be available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and will be backwards compatible with the new PS5 and Xbox Series consoles.
