Aspyr Reportedly Developing New Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic Game
A series of new leaks and hints have suggested that Aspyr is developing a new Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic.
Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic is an RPG that released back in 2003 for Xbox and PC. Developed by BioWare and published by LucasArts, the game was a huge success and to this day is still widely regarded as one of the best Star Wars video game of all time. A sequel released in 2004 and fans have been calling for another game ever since, and it looks like one is finally on the way.
Last year, industry journalist Jason Schreier hinted at a reboot of the series after claiming that it wouldn’t happen with EA. Rumours recently sprang up again when, according to Wssftech, Star Wars leaker Bespin Bulletin claimed in an episode of his B.O.B. podcast that a new developer is attached to the project.
New rumours now suggest that the developer behind the supposed reimagining of Knights Of The Old Republic may be Aspyr, a developer known for porting games to various platforms and the studio behind the KOTOR port for Mac OS, iOS, and Android.
Recent job ads for the studio claim that it’s working on an original AAA role-playing game and Embracer Group, previously THQ Nordic, announced yesterday that it had acquired Aspyr who they revealed is working on a “major” licensed video game with a budget of more than $70 million.
To heighten the speculation, Jason Schreier appeared on a ResetEra thread discussing Aspyr’s unannounced game after the announcements and left some cryptic hints that the game may be the new Knights Of The Old Republic sequel.
Unfortunately, none of this has been confirmed, and it seems we may have to wait some time before Aspyr’s project is officially announced. In the meantime, keep checking back for the latest news!
