Frontier Developments has announced Planet Coaster 2, the sequel to 2016’s acclaimed Planet Coaster.

The upcoming sequel aims to offer the “ultimate coaster park experience” with the inclusion of water park gameplay, giving players the ability to create their dream theme and water park.

With the brand-new water park gameplay, the sequel allows players to create rides with rivers, flumes, and wave pools, and parks with sunbeds, lifeguards, changing rooms, and more.

Planet Coaster 2 aims to “push the boundaries of creativity” with enhanced building and pathing tools, new themes, and piece-by-piece building tools.

Frontier promises a selection of rides that includes new water coasters and returning fan favourites from the original game, as well as the ability to customise rides with an improved sequencer tool, animatronics, smoke, water jets, and sound for a unique experience.

Three game modes with multiplayer elements have been confirmed: Career mode with several unique scenarios, Franchise mode that tasks players with building a global park network alone or against friends, and the classic Sandbox mode, which can also be played alone or shared with friends.

Planet Coaster 2 launches later this year for PC and PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles. Frontier Development plans to host livestreams of the game on the last Wednesday of the month to reveal new content and gameplay, so make sure to check them out!
