Capcom Shares Update On Resident Evil Village, Releases New Screenshots

Resident Evil Village

Capcom has shared an update on Resident Evil Village and has published new screenshots.

The game, which was announced back in July during Sony’s PS5 reveal event, is set to release in 2021. No official release date has been announced, but developer Capcom has this week shared an update on the game with IGN.

Speaking about the game, Resident Evil Village Producer Peter Fabiano teased that the new title will have lots of surprises, saying: “We’re really excited for fans to experience Resident Evil Village when it comes out in 2021.

“We feel it’s an accumulation of all the best elements of Resident Evil games from the past 25 years, with everything fans love about action-infused survival horror plus new surprises. Of course, there are plenty of puzzles to solve and mysteries to unfold.”

He continued: “We hope fans will enjoy exploring the desolate, snowy village in which Resident Evil Village takes place, where enemies new to the franchise are waiting for them.

“Players will once again take control of Ethan Winters, experiencing more of the story set in motion in Resident Evil 7 Biohazard. New technologies are allowing us to immerse players in the game in ways we couldn’t achieve before, in what we hope will be the most pulse-pounding Resident Evil game to date.”

In addition to sharing an update on what to expect from the new Resident Evil game, Capcom also released three new images featuring two werewolf-like enemies and what looks like a castle tower. Check them out below:

The news comes after Resident Evil Village was given an official 18+ rating in Brazil due to “extreme violence” as well as “intentional death and mutilation”, and “corpse exhibition”.

Capcom’s update also comes after the developer was hit with a ransomware attack last month and the company has been releasing details about the information leaked.

Over the weekend, Resident Evil 8 suffered a gigantic leak when screenshots, marketing plans, story and boss details were released over the internet.

We won’t share any of the leaks, but it seems they stem from the earlier ransomware attack which leaked information on the company’s upcoming projects as well as a large amount of personal data.

Resident Evil Village will release later next year, with rumours pointing to an April launch, on PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series consoles. There has been no confirmation of a PS4 or Xbox One version.
