New EA Studio Announces Single-Player Black Panther Game
EA has announced that its brand-new development studio Cliffhanger Games is developing a new third-person single-player Black Panther game.
Although details are scarce, EA revealed that the Seattle-based studio is helmed by Kevin Stephens, who previously led Middle Earth: Shadow Of Mordor, and includes veterans from franchises like God Of War, Call Of Duty, and Halo.
According to a press release, Cliffhanger Games is working with Marvel Games to “ensure that we craft every aspect of Wakanda, its technology, its heroes, and our own original story with the attention to detail and authenticity that the world of Black Panther deserves.”
Stephens said: “We’re dedicated to delivering fans a definitive and authentic Black Panther experience, giving them more agency and control over their narrative than they have ever experienced in a story-driven video game. Wakanda is a rich Super Hero sandbox, and our mission is to develop an epic world for players who love Black Panther and want to explore the world of Wakanda as much as we do.
“We want our game to enable players to feel what it’s like to be worthy of the Black Panther mantle in unique, story-driven ways, and we want Cliffhanger Games to empower everyone on our team as we collaborate to bring this amazing world to life.”
The announcement marks the sixth Marvel game in development, with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Marvel’s Wolverine launching this year and next by Insomniac Games, while EA’s Motive Studio is working on an Iron Man game and Skydance New Media is working on a Black Panther and Captain America game.
There’s no word on what consoles the game is in development for and no further information, so make sure to check back for more details in the future.
