System Shock Has Gone Gold, Launching On May 30th For PC

Developer Nightdive Studios and publisher Prime Matter have confirmed that System Shock has gone gold and will be launching later this month for PC, with console launches planned for the near future.

The game, a remake of the critically acclaimed 1994 action-adventure title of the same name, features gameplay from the original game but with HD visuals, updated controls, new sounds and music, new enemies, quality-of-life tweaks, an overhauled UI, as well as new combat options and a revamped hacking system.

For those who’ve never played the original, the game follows a security hacker as they attempt to stop malevolent AI SHODAN onboard the Citadel space station, all while facing a slew of mutated creatures created by the AI and putting your puzzle, hacking, and survival skills to the test.

Developer Nightdive Studios worked with members of the original System Shock team, including SHODAN voice actor Terri Brosius.

System Shock will release on May 30th for PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store with a free copy of the upcoming System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition. The game will launch on PlayStation and Xbox consoles in the future with details to come at a later date.
