Microsoft Announces Official Date For Xbox Next-Gen Game Showcase
Microsoft has announced the date for its upcoming Xbox next-gen showcase.
The tech giant has confirmed that the highly anticipated Xbox event will be taking place on the previously rumoured date of Thursday, July 23rd, at 5 PM BST. An hour-long pre-show hosted by Geoff Keighley will air before the official event.
Microsoft announced the date for the event in a Tweet shared earlier today. According to Eurogamer, the next-gen showcase will include an official gameplay reveal for Halo: Infinite and it’s rumoured we may see new information and gameplay of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, a new Gears Of War, and a new Forza.
There have also been rumours that Microsoft may be rebooting older franchises such as Perfect Dark and Fable. The Initiative, one of Xbox’s new game studios, will reportedly unveil a new game at the event.
Last week, we reported that the event will include reveals from Xbox Game Studios and third-party content too but no titles have yet to be confirmed.
What Else Could Be Announced At The Event?
We may also see more information and footage of upcoming games including Everwild, Psychonauts 2, Grounded, Project Mara, CrossfireX, Battletoads, Tell Me Why, and possibly even Microsoft Flight Simulator.
It’s also been widely speculated that Microsoft will be releasing a second, cheaper console which has been codenamed Project Lockhart. Reports claim the cheaper console will be disc-less and have lower specs than the Xbox Series X.
We revealed last week that Lockhart was initially going to be announced at E3 2020 but plans were changed when the event was cancelled. Sources suggest that Microsoft will announce Lockhart in August but fans are hoping for a glimpse of it later this month.
Regardless of what will be shown, fans are hoping the event will be better than Xbox’s last showcase which was criticised for its lack of gameplay footage and for featuring interviews over video chats.
We’ll have to wait a few more weeks to find out but until then, keep checking back for all the latest information on everything next-gen.
