Here’s How Hogwarts Legacy Uses The PS5’s Special Features

Hogwarts Legacy PS5 Features

WB Games Avalanche has detailed how Hogwarts Legacy will use the PS5’s special features to better immerse you into the game.

In a new blog post by the game’s Community Manager Chandler Wood, Hogwarts Legacy will use the DualSense controller’s special features to heighten your experience, including the adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, speakers, and lights.

According to the blog post, the DualSense controller will become an extension of your wand as the adaptive triggers will allow for more flexibility during combat. You’ll feel each spell through the right-hand side of the controller and each spell will feel unique when you cast it thanks to the controller’s haptic feedback.

In addition to feeling spells through the controller, you’ll also feel other elements like crushing ingredients with a mortar and pestle in Potions class, the screech of a Mandrake seedling, and flying on a broomstick or a Hippogriff.

The lightbar of the DualSense controller will also offer some immersion by flashing with spells or when taking damage, and pulsing with the colours of your Hogwarts house; red and gold for Gryffindor, green and silver for Slytherin, blue and bronze for Ravenclaw, and yellow and black for Hufflepuff.

The blog post also confirmed that the game will support two graphics modes; Fidelity or Performance, allowing you to choose between prioritising framerate or visuals.

Hogwarts Legacy will also support the PS5’s Tempest 3D AudioTech, allowing you to hear immersive sounds like the bubbling of cauldrons, the crackle of fire, the flap of a Hippogriff’s wings, and more.

Finally, the game will utilise the PS5’s Activity Cards and Game Help features, and will use the SSD to provide quick loading times as you move across the game’s world, whether that’s via a broomstick or the Floo Network.

Hogwarts Legacy is planned to release this Holiday season for PS5, PS4, PC, Nintendo Switch, and PC. While you’re waiting for release, take a look at everything revealed in March’s special Hogwarts Legacy State Of Play and watch new gameplay footage.
