Preparing for the 10 Days of Xmas
As you can first see, major change to the website. I’ve decided to try and use WordPress, just for convenience sake rather than anything else. Previously I was using my own CMS (Content Management System) that I had coded in PHP. There was a lot of tweaks and re-structuring I had intended to do, such as use tags within it, however it would have required a rather large rehaul. Quite frankly, I just don’t have the time for that now, so I invested some of the time moving the archives to WordPress and slightly tweaking it up for my own content. I have to say, the outcome isn’t too shoddy.
I now have 10 days of Xmas/New Years holidays, and I intend to play a fair amount of games. I’ll be trying to blog everyday with some new content, possibly multiple times a day depending on how things go. With Steam having their sales, there’s a good chance I’ll be picking up even more games along the way, despite having a pretty large list to play. Some of these include Metro 2033, BioShock 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Just Cause 2 and a few more.
Keep checking back daily for more information on a variety of games, my impressions/opinions and hopefully random stuff along the way! Merry Christmas to everyone!
Few tweaks and so forth for the site
Just finally sat down and did some tweaks since I was a little bored, despite having work to do. But hey, that’s not a priority now is it?
Ok, so what have I got in store for you? Here goes:
- Created an RSS feed! Yes that’s right, we have an RSS feed so you can subscribe and get all the blog goodness right into whatever reader you use.
- New promo link, to the article I mentioned previously, “Best 360 Games of 2007″ at the top of the page.
- Cleaned up the menu along the right a bit, and yes, those are the latest games I’m playing…
- For anyone who wants to link to our website, I’ve created a simple button (hey, the website is Simple Gamer after all!) which can be found at http://www.simplegamer.co.uk/layout/button_sg.jpg and looks like:
![]()
That’s about it, but keep visiting back for more updates since I have a few new backend features that makes it easier to manage the website!
My blog, nice and simple
Finally, after working on the website for about a solid week, I’ve got it online. It’s taken a while building the layout and trying some other CMSes (Content Management System), but I’ve finally gone ahead and put it online. So let me give a formal introduction first.
I’m Shabbir, I used to own and run MangaView. MV used to be a website dedicated to reviewing manga titles released in the UK, but began to slow down over the last year due to other responsibilities. It eventually began to turn into a blog anyway, so I decided to close down MV. The reviews have gone over to my good friends over at Anime Boredom, for whom I still write reviews.
This blog will serve as my primary website that I’ll aim to update whenever something is going on. As the small intro at the top right states, it’s mainly just a blog related to anime, manga and video games but also tech related stuff. Hopefully you’ll find it an interesting read, since I’ll be writing up my views on various titles and news, or just random stuff.
As such then, there’s no “real” content of the website – it’s just the blog entries. Whether that’s a good thing or bad thing, who knows but it seems to work for several other blogs out there! Let’s hope you enjoy it.
