Wow, long time, many games!

So it’s been a while since I last updated, so there’s a lot to say!

Firstly it was my birthday last week, so in came the happy wishes and the presents. I got a few games, most notably Mario Galaxy for the Wii and Assassin’s Creed for the 360. Both are solid titles, I haven’t played them extensively but a bit, so here are my views.

Mario Galaxy is awesome to put it simply. It’s been the center of attention for some time now and critics have been praising the hell out of it, and I’m going to have to follow! The game just brings back all the platform enjoyment that we used to have so much fun with back in the 2D days of the Super Nintendo. It really feels that revolutionary in some ways. It will no doubt be a very strong contender for Game of the Year (remember there are games like Mass Effect, Assassin’s Creed, Bioshock, Crysis, etc.) and I have a feeling it may actually win it!

Assassin’s Creed is an interesting game, I can’t really explain the premise without giving away spoilers, so I won’t. The basic gameplay of the game is you assassinate people in massive cities with a lively crowd system, so you run away if you’re found out and try blend into the system. My brother has completed the game and watching him play various different parts of the game, it seems repetitive, however he assures me that it’s enjoyable throughout.

I also preordered Mass Effect. For me, I was a HUGE fan of Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic and have had Mass Effect on preorder for about 3 months now! Yes, that’s how much I’ve been looking forward to it (preordered it the same time as Super Paper Mario!) Bioware are awesome at making RPGs, it is what they do best. They’ve created an amazing atmosphere here and while it does feel similar to KoToR, it’s still different and unique.

Gameplay aspects have no doubt been lifted from KoToR but they fit right in and help make the game even better. They essentially keep all the stuff that made KoToR so good and build upon it. The story is awesome and you must play it yourself to enjoy it. The only issue I’ve experienced is slow downs and annoying loading at awkward times.

Mass Effect made me get out KoToR and install it on my MacBook (I’m dual booting, so I have Windows XP on here too!) I’ve already sunk a good few hours into that and am reliving those great memories from years ago. It still is a decent looking game and gameplay wise, solid as a rock.

So that’s all the games I’ve been playing. Besides that I’ve been watching Chappelle Show in my free time to relax and otherwise, working! So that’s all! You can check out some accredited online colleges if you want to work too!

No gaming… for a week!

That’s crazy talk right? I mean how can I play no games for a whole week!? Well, there’s some truth to it. I mean, I played PES2008 twice, but does it really count? Each sitting was for about 10 minutes…

Yep, that’s how busy studying at university is, and it definitely cuts down on gaming time. I might need to actually start using my DS now. I’ve got Zelda: Phantom Hourglass and from the 15 minutes I played it, it seems pretty good.
Also played PES2007 and Fifa 2008 on DS, and was shocked. Never again…
